Based on the stage play A doll's house by Henrik Ibsen; it was originally published in Norwegian in 1879 under title: Et dukkehjem. This disc is a recorded DVD and may not play on all DVD players or drives. Produced as a motion picture in 2008. Special features include: "Looking for a miracle : reflections on Ibsen's A doll house, a film by Reiner E. Moritz", a making-of documentary featuring clips of stage rehearsals and interviews with cast and crew (60 min.).

This adaptation of Henrik Ibsenâs A Dollâs House by experimental theatre company Mabou Mines sharply departs from the playâs realistic roots. Performed before an audience of puppets, A Dollâs House is presented as an absurdist comedy, with much physicality and exaggeration, colorful costumes and sets, and melodramatic piano accompaniment. One of the most striking features of this highly stylized production is that all of the male characters are played by actors under four-and-a-half feet tall, calling attention to the absurdity of the sexual power structure that the play critiques. Those expecting a traditional interpretation will be disappointed by this film; however, many will find this highly original production to offer a refreshing approach to this classic.
